Overview
The 1995 West Monroe boys’ team won the school’s fourth consecutive and seventh overall LHSPLA Class 5A title.
Career & Service
- Team roster: Clint Johnston (123 lb); Alex Hall and Scott Rogers (148 lb); Mike Mitchell (165 lb); DeEdrick Jefferson (181 lb); Curtis Corbin (198 lb); Tommy Banks and Brad Harris (220 lb); Jeremy Many (242 lb); Alan Cooper (275 lb); Shane Pittard (superheavyweight).
- At the time, athletes from all school classifications competed together at the state meet.
Honors & Achievements
- Individual state champions: Mike Mitchell (165 lb), DeEdrick Jefferson (181 lb), Curtis Corbin (198 lb), Jeremy Many (242 lb) and Shane Pittard (superheavyweight).
- Five athletes in five weight classes—198, 220, 242, 275 and superheavyweight—squatted at least 600 pounds.
- DeEdrick Jefferson earned the state meet’s heavy-platform Outstanding Lifter award; Casey Sanders was named Boys 5A Coach of the Year.
